Tolterodine is a competitive muscarinic receptor antagonist with actions similar to atropine. It is used in the management of urge urinary incontinence, urgency, and frequency.
It belongs to the class of urinary antispasmodics.
Adult
PO
>18 yr: 2 mg twice daily, may reduce to 1 mg twice daily to reduce AR. Extended release 4 mg once daily, may reduce to 2 mg/day to reduce AR.
Adverse drug reactions: dry mouth, chest pain, headache, somnolence, fatigue, dry skin, abdominal pain, constipation, dyspepsia, diarrhea, dizziness, anxiety, dry eyes, paresthesia, nervousness, urinary retention.
