The Commission on Narcotic Drugs
The Commission on Narcotic Drugs (CND), established in 1946, is the central policy-making body on controlled medicines (e.g., natural and synthetic opioids) within the United Nations system and in the field of international drug control policy. The CND also has important mandates under the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, the World Health Organization, and International Narcotics Control Board.
It is mandated to determine the scope and control of controlled medicines, psychotropic substances, and their precursors.
