Treatment that combines chemotherapy with radiation therapy.

Advantages of concurrent chemotherapy and radiation:
• Concomitant chemoradiotherapy can be used with organ-preserving intent.
• Chemotherapy can act as a radiosensitizer and aid in the destruction of radioresistant clones.
• Chemotherapy given as part of concurrent chemoradiation may act systemically and potentially eradicate distant micrometastases.
