Buclizine is a piperazine antihistamine with antimuscarinic and moderate sedative properties.
It is used mainly for its antiemetic action and in the treatment of migraine in combination with analgesics.
Also used for pruritic skin disorders and for prevention of motion sickness.
PO
Motion sickness 25 or 50 mg 30 mins before travelling, repeat after 4-6 hr if needed.
Migraine 12.5 mg at the start of an attack.
Alleviation of nausea 25 or 50 mg/day, up to 150 mg/day in severe cases.
Pruritic skin disorders 25-50 mg/day.
Adverse drug reactions: drowsiness, dizziness, lack of coordination; blurred vision; urinary retention; vomiting; rash; dry mouth; headache; nausea; epigastric pain; weight gain; and diarrhea.
