Bambuterol HCl is a prodrug of terbutaline. It relaxes bronchial smooth muscle by selectively acting on β2-receptors.
It is a long-acting oral bronchodilator.
Indications: persistent reversible airways obstruction.
PO 10-20 mg/day at bedtime.
Adverse drug reactions: fine tremor of skeletal muscle (e.g., hands); palpitations and muscle cramps; tachycardia; tenseness; and peripheral vasodilation.
