Background
Based on the International Association for Hospice and Palliative Care's (IAHPC) strategic plan in 2008, the Board of Directors suggested developing and implementing a Palliative Care specialized online dictionary.
The goal of this project is to create an high quality, objective educational resource for the global Palliative Care community.
Utilization
Pallipedia offers two options to visitors:
- Searching for a term or concept related to the field of Palliative Care. The searching capability includes stop words and query language. Search results may be printed or forwarded in an email.
- Submitting a term or concept related to the field of Palliative Care. Accepted terms and concepts are automatically indexed in alphabetical order and the date it was accepted is displayed under each entry.
Pallipedia contributors
This in an ongoing project intended to be owned and nurtured by the global palliative care community. Anyone with Web access can suggest terms to Pallipedia, following the established set of criteria. Special qualifications are not required and everyone is encouraged to suggest a term or concept.
Appropriate evaluation, selection, edition and organization of the content will be key components of the project quality: a team of reviewers will evaluate and select contributions based on the criteria.
Funders
Pallipedia is cofunded by an anonymous donor and from a grant received by the US Cancer Pain Relief Committee. These funds have made possible the development and nurture of this Dictionary.
